Due to the company’s growth, we are adding a Senior Project Manager to lead construction teams in our Commercial Design/Build environment. About You

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
·        Strong project management skills and an understanding of the triple constraint of cost, scope and schedule
·        Strong capacity to create and adhere to detailed design/build schedule
·        Strong understanding of the design/build construction process
·        Expert mentorship and leadership skills
·        Strong customer relationship management capabilities
·        Proficient in interpreting construction drawings and specifications
·        Proficient in relevant software (MS Office, SiteMax, Smartsheet, Premier, Building Connected, etc.)
·        Ability to manage around tight deadlines and still get the details right
·        Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
·        Methodical, organized, analytical, problem-solving mindset
·        Outstanding organizational & time management skills and high level of attention to detail

Experience
·        10+ years’ experience in a project management role
·        Experience in the interior office construction industry required
·        Experience building and adapting systems, processes, and procedures
 
Credentials
·       Post-secondary degree preferred, ideally in a relevant field (business, project management, construction)
·        PMP or PM certification is an asset
·        Willingness to travel to remote project locations throughout the life cycle of a project


About the Role

The Senior Project Manager leads the delivery of Aura design/build projects across Canada, to ensure that projects are completed on time, on budget, and according to Aura’s safety and quality standards while paying close attention to the needs of the client. Travel to remote project locations (Kelowna, Calgary, Toronto etc) will likely be required intermittently. The Senior Project Manager oversees all activities relating to project planning, risk mitigation, scheduling, budgeting, tendering, forecasting, contract management, construction execution and project closeout to the ensure the delivery of profitable projects.  In addition, the Senior Project Manager will facilitate project-related meetings and discussions including project update meetings, budget updates, site walkthroughs and process discussions.  The Senior Project Manager plays a pivotal role in interdepartmental communication to ensure ongoing dialogue between Design and Project Delivery throughout the life cycle of the project and plays an important role in the development of junior staff within the project delivery team.
 
Details below:
  • Create project schedules and budgets with the assistance of a Project Coordinator and the Pre-Construction team to set projects up for success
  • Monitor schedule and budget on an ongoing basis, to ensure the delivery of profitable projects on time and on budget with attention to quality and safety
  •   Manage client relations by organizing and directing client meetings
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across all departments within Aura
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop understanding of project scope
  • Identify gaps in construction scopes of work and implement strategies to rectify them
  • Monitor budget constraints provided by the client, engage in value engineering and communicate cost saving measures to the client and design team
  • Protect the company against wasteful, inefficient, unsafe, and fraudulent practices and implement strategies to avoid loss in profit
  • Building Permit applications with the relevant jurisdiction and coordinate all required regulatory inspections
  • Oversee project setup process, trade selection before and after tender, tender bid process, quote review/analysis and awarding of contracts and sub-trades based on capacity and performance
  • Conduct site inspections and send layouts to subcontractors to enable subcontractors to develop an understanding of services/products
  • Assemble comprehensive construction proposals that incorporate trade quotes
  • Work collaboratively with the design team to ensure smooth transition to the construction phase
  • Manage CCDC contracts and Schedule of Values
  • Oversee procurement tracking and identification of long lead items
  • Ensure timely kickoff of projects, conduct regular meetings with site staff to monitor progress and deliver accurate project updates to the client via weekly progress reports in collaboration with the Project Coordinator
  • Monitor project quality and safety in collaboration with the site superintendent, ensuring that all deficiencies are identified, documented, and rectified
  • Identify and raise risk management issues on an on-going basis
  • Manage project accounting, evaluate and forecast revenue on all projects on a monthly basis and invoice accordingly
  • Monitor and review key suppliers, contractors, and procurement initiatives to ensure accurate progress billing and provide accurate assessment of services
  • Oversee the project closing processes, including substantial completion walk-throughs and ensure that Aura meets its quality, safety, budget, and client satisfaction needs as well as capturing lessons learned to support the continual improvement of Aura processes
  • Analyze final project financials and data to improve future construction projects
  • Provide mentorship, training and performance management to more junior members of the Project Delivery Team both formally during annual reviews & monthly 1:1’s, as well as informally on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with undertaking any other duties and responsibilities as required

Compensation

$140,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
