Due to the company’s growth, we are adding an Estimator to support our project delivery deparment in our Commercial Design/Build environment. This is a fast-paced, highly collaborative team with a focus on ensuring client satisfaction while living Aura’s values of Care, Humility, Creativity, Passion and Fun!

About You

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
·      Proficient in interpreting construction drawings and specifications
·      In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods as well as estimation formulas
·      Understanding of trade quotations and areas of blow-out in cost
·      Proficient in relevant software (MS Office, SiteMax, Smartsheet, Building Connected, Estimating Software’s and Takeoff Tools, Excel etc.)
·      Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
·      Methodical, analytical, problem-solving mindset
·      Outstanding organizational and time management skills and high level of attention to detail
 
Experience
·      3+ years experience working as an estimator or in a similar role, ideally working with commercial design and construction projects
·      Experience dealing with sub-contractors and suppliers
  
Credentials
·      CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) an asset


About the Role

The estimator is responsible for analyzing project specifications, evaluating costs, and preparing accurate estimates for materials, labor and other expenses. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to collaborate with Sales Representatives, Project Mangers, Designers, Clients and other project stakeholders.  
 
Details below:
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and determine pricing methodology capable of achieving positive return with reference to previous projects
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (Sales, Design, Pre-Construction, Project Delivery)
  • Assist in preparing preliminary estimates in alignment with profit margin objectives
  • Create costing plans for the design team to achieve GP targets
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop understanding of project scope
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop progressive budgeting as per project milestones
  • Conduct site inspections and engage subcontractors for budget pricing as applicable
  • Review pricing and quotations from subcontractors/vendors for the supply of products, services and goods and clarify any price discrepancies
  • Explore value engineering options with clients, trades and the design team
  • Maintain a database of subcontractor and vendor costs including price adjustments as they occur
  • Seek out alternative subcontractors, suppliers, furniture options and construction methods that could lead to an increase in profitability on projects
  • Implement strategies to avoid loss in profit
  • Identify and raise risk management issues on an on-going basis
  • Assist with undertaking other Pre-Construction admin duties and responsibilities as required

Compensation

$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
